I Won't Be This Happy Tomorrow

Did I tell you? My baby sleeps all night. Superbaby is, in fact, such a proficient sleeper that I have begun waking up in the middle of the night soaked with milk, hoping to hear the baby soon.

Tomorrow I'm having my wisdom teeth removed. I will be doing it sans tranquilizers, because I am one bad-ass mo-fo. I used to be in the Army, and now I'm getting my teeth removed with only novocaine. Fear me!

Last night we went to the beach. It was a gorgeous evening and a nice way to end what had been sort of  weird day. The boys invented a game that involved waiting for a wave to bowl you over. I remember loving the beach as a kid, and now I remember why.

I had no idea I was hosting so many freckles. Also, I could use some lip balm. Cheers!

My Life is Fascinating

Plans for the evening:

1. Pump some breastmilk. Incidentally, the iPod touch pad suggested the word "pimp" while I was typing "pump," which I think is really damn funny. Maybe I will pimp some breastmilk.

2. Half-heartedly watch who gets booted from American Idol (probably Brooke).

3. Read my book, The Mists of Avalon. It's 800 pages, so I have much to do.

4. Contemplate my choice of clothing for the upcoming job fair. It's not looking good people. Ass is too fat for work clothes, but does not intend to stay that way. Why don't we all wear those lovely empire-waisted dresses like Jane Austen did?

Is it just me? Or is Brad Pitt a dork? I bet he's not as cool as he looks. He seems to have jumped on the humanitarian bandwagon on the heels of Ms. Jolie. That's right, I'm blogging Idol Gives Back. Live from my bed.

Perhaps I'm taking this mobile blogging thing too far?

I scared the everloving SHIT out of Gus yesterday. I'm kind of proud of myself, but also kind of ashamed. This mothering thing is a mixed bag, yunno? He won't be running off at the park anymore, though.

Time for bed.

I KNEW He Was Up To Something

When your husband sends you an instant message asking for your Typepad password, and you ask him what he's doing, and he says "nothing,"--go with your gut instinct, which is that the man is Plotting Something. Especially when the man in question has red hair and a mostly Irish complexion.

When you find out what the man is up to, make a mental note to love him for the rest of your life. Also, hope with all you're worth that your sons turn out like their father.

I'm just sayin'.

Things I Have Accomplished Today

1. Late to work. Getting here involves making lunches, getting dressed, showered, dressing children, finding something for breakfast, letting dogs out, feeding obnoxious cat, blow-drying hair because it's COLD in the morning, rounding up stuff kids need for school, etc., etc.

2. Numerous emails.

3. Some lesson planning.

4. Registered for two exams I need to take to keep my certification current. Now I just need to find a spare $2000 to pay for the internet classes I need to take as well.

5. Paid some bills.

6. Fed the guinea pigs.

7. Started writing a letter to Will (he's two-and-half) but gave up when IE crashed and left me feeling uninspired. Will have to do that this evening.

The weather is amazing and perfect. I will be taking the boys to the park after school, no matter how they protest. Will have to stop for snacks, as I failed to plan for that this morning. Crap, I may have to run home, as I am lacking emergency diaper supplies. Maybe I will get some from the daycare? I mean, we supply the freaking diapers anyway.

What's for dinner? Who knows. The good news? Last night was tantrum free. Perhaps Gus will live to see his fifth birthday after all.

Oh, and Heroes last night! What is Nikki's power? Making up new hare-brained personalities? And did anyone else think the blood spatter was a bit much? DL was a sucker. Clearly he needed to go. Also, Adam, "first" man, cliche! Hooray! Is he going to use his powers for good or for evil? And who will narrate the show after they kill off Mohinder? Because surely Mohinder is on the "kill" list. What's up with the crying-black-tears-and-everyone-dying twins? I am thinking it's something akin to stigmata, but what makes that a power? Too bad Maya thinks Sylar is cute. I think Elle is entirely useless, and she should leave the show and take Bob with her.

I am, however, still in love with Peter Petrelli. Only three!more!shows!

Now, be free. Run on over and give Letter B some love, she has a newborn and a toddler. Also, go tell Mama Daisy you're crossing your fingers for her. She's thisclose to selling the extra house! Happy thoughts!

It's Official

I passed the certification test for work, which means my contract can be renewed for next year. I apologize for being vague, but I don't like to talk about work too much on The Internets. So stop asking questions and congratulate me!

Take Two (or Three ... or Four)

So after teaching myself to knit (again), and re-learning my cast on, here's what I have come up with:

*Yes, my knitting has a gender.

Hey! It's My Birthday Soon!

March 12 marks 28 years of my existence. I feel like a little reflection is in order, but you won't get it tonight.

Instead, I am going to post a lament and a list. In that order.

The lament goes something like this:

I taught myself to knit, and I was proud. But then I spent some time with real knitters and discovered I was knitting backwards. Which is actually a special talent, achievable only by the highly gifted and/or retarded. I will leave it to you to figure out which one I am.

So the knittas straightened me out and all was well. I was knitting frontwards and it was a beautiful thing. Until last night, when I was knitting a swatch for this pattern. I knit for about six rows in perfect stockinette, and then I forgot how to purl. I muddled through for a couple more rows, and then forgot the knit stitch that I thought I had perfected.

And then I discovered that I was once again knitting backwards. "WTF?!" I say. But I will prevail! I will finish this margarita* and I will make a new swatch!

And now, the list. Because I am going to be 28 soon, I will need some gifts. And because I am such a considerate type, I will share my birthday list with you:

And I really want one of these.
